Summer hat knitting pattern

Summer is heading our way and it's always fun to have something to put on your head that's not too heavy to make sure your scalp is not frying. If we do it, why can't our girls too? Well, I wipped up something for Cassandre that may interest some of you.

Here's how the crown looks like:

Blythe Summer hat

Skills needed:
knitting in the round

material needed:
Approximately 40 yards or sport weight yarn, I used Bernat Satin Sport
set of four US 4/3.5mm double pointed needles
set of four US 3/3.25mm double pointed needles
Darning needle

Gauge is not essential but you should have something near to 12 sts/16 rows = 2 inches in stockinette stitch

CO 60 sts (with smaller needles) and devide evenly between 3 needles, 20 stitches per needle

work 7 rounds in 2x2 rib

swith to larger needles
row 8: *k2, m1* till the end of the round. You know have 90 sts.

knit 16 rounds

round 24: *k4, k2tog* to end
round 25: *k3, k2tog* to end
round 26: *k2, k2tog* to end
round 27: *k1, k2tog* to end

Pull yarn through remaining stitches. Weave in end.

You have a great summer hat for one of your girls! Now that you made it once, you can easily modify it with nice stitch patterns.
